We are now looking for an innovative, collaborative and driven R&D Principal Scientist for Fiber and Bioeconomy for Kemira R&D and Technology function.

Kemira R&D and Technology is a critical enabler within Kemira, securing organic growth and further differentiation in the market through co-creation and innovation with our customers. This position is permanent and is based at our R&D Center in Espoo, Finland.

In this role you will work as a driver to develop solutions in pulping application. This team is driving product and solution development and trouble-shooting in pulp mills in Kemira R&D projects and technical customer service. As a principal scientist you will develop more sustainable and efficient solutions focusing on pulping additives, lead and guide new product development projects and commercialize products in collaboration with other functions in Kemira. Additionally, supporting others in the area is part of your responsibility.

What you’ll bring to the team:
•    Academic degree (M.Sc./PhD) in chemistry or chemical engineering, in the area of inorganic chemistry, fiber chemistry, biomass refining, bioproduct technology or similar
•    5+ years work experience and proven record in pulp technology in either research and new product development, development engineer or similar role
•    Deep knowledge on inorganic chemistry, recovery chemistries, industrial production and recirculation processes
•    Innovative and research oriented attitude together with passion to solve problems and courage to drive constant improvement by challenging existing status and identifying new ways of working
•    Ability to build networks, good collaboration and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders and commercial partners
•    A track record of technical performance as well as strong project and commercial delivery
•    The right safety attitude and willingness to continuously improve safety culture in our day-to-day operations
•    Excellent communication and reporting skills in English. Finnish is considered an advantage
•    Understanding for surface and colloidal chemistry is a benefit
•    Work experience in different cultures is valued
•    Experience in control & monitoring tools and digital solutions is a plus
•    Experience in cellulose fiber modification is an advantage
